Hi my name is Mark. I just bought my first boat (how come I feel like I am at an AA meeting saying that LOL)
it's a 1976 Arrowglass. I am not Quite sure of the model, so if anyone knows I'd love to know myself. it has an OMC 165 hp straight 6 (250 chevy I believe) with an OMC stringer 800 outdrive. the tilt is broken, but I am in the process of getting that all straightened out.
I bought it running but needing some TLC. I totally gutted the interior and cleaned it up, Nothing fancy just some carpet, slapped in some car seats I had, and cleaned up the sloppy wiring and cables. it really cleaned up nice!
I opted for Wood because It was semi cheap (I have a line on wood) and I could do it myself. I think the wood really makes her look classy!
I also did a little bit of wiring repair. put in a new tach. and made sure everything worked. ok most everything. I still need to tinker under the dash a bit. but it is 90% there and working!
I took it out on the water before I fixed the speedo (needed a pitot) and it ran really nice. since the tilt does not work (housing is chipped where the worm gear goes, looks like I need an intermediate housing) I can't use reverse. I didn't even try to put it in reverse. Other than that it worked great. I don't know how fast it went, but at cruising speed it felt really fast. and was keeping up with or passing most of the other ski boats on the water. next time out I'll know how fast it really went. and maybe dial in the prop.
It's not the best looking boat out there but for a $500 boat I think it's really nice. I put about $300 more into it for the repairs I have done so far. That includes a new battery and a fold up wheel for the trailer.
Take a look tell me what you think! and any help on a model would be GREAT! the one thing that makes me wonder about model. is the humps on the sides of the body near the back of the boat. I have seen several Arrowglass boast like mine but NONE with the humps. not even searching the net.
