You know what is funny, we are all tossing around numbers, stats, hopes and it all doesn't matter. The game is not played on paper, it's on the frozen field. Lets have a few beers and enjoy the games.

Die-hard Bengals fan, So I've jumped on the Packer wagon, even though its a pick from my heart. I'm getting a little sick of the commentators talking about Bretts father(the Angel) looking down on him. He ain't the only guy in the world who's lost his Dad. I'm sure even Brett would like it to stop. Hearts w/ the Packers but my better sense says Pats

So true gaugeguy - any given Sunday as they say. I just find the comparisons interesting. They tell me Carolina is a lot better than people give them credit for and, on paper, they can win. I thinks that game is going to be very close.

I wouldn't bet against the Packers either. I'm sick of the "angel" crap also, but the commentators have always had a soft spot for Farve, especially John Madden. The guy is just freakin amazing, he doesn't need an angel, he has got pure talent and a love of the game.

Ralph, did you ever figure out how they calculate the QB rating?

Re: NFL Round 2 Make your picks

Ralph, I heard them explain the quarterback rating system the other day, and it confused the heck out of me. Manning had a perfect QB rating in the game against Denver, yet he hardly completed every pass he threw. Go figure.

And your right, I believe Brady's numbers are great, and he never seems to lose his composure, (and my wife thinks he's cute too). Peyton's numbers are outstanding. He probably should have won the MVP outright. McNair started hot, and then tapered off, while Manning continued to put up better numbers.

I by no means dislike the Patriots. If they beat the Titans, ill root for them. (Unless they play the Packers in the Superbowl, gotta cheer for them this year).

BTW - I like looking at all of the numbers, I find it interesting. I was amazed at how many times Brady had been sacked, he must be tougher than I gave him credit for. Interesting that the Titans are giving up that many points, thats not good.

Guageguy - Your right, its not played on paper, cause if it was, the Titans should just stay home. :p

Anyway, this is whats sports is all about, talkin smack with your Buds. :D

Re: NFL Round 2 Make your picks

Some little known Eagles / Packers facts....

In case you're scared that the Packers might be "on a mission" because
of the whole Brett Favre situation, you might want to find out what a
loaf of bread and a gallon of gas cost the last time Green Bay won in
Philadelphia - because it was in 1962!

But more than mere history is involved: According to the legend, in the
1962 game, the Packers were ahead 42-0 and scored a TD with few seconds
left to make the final score 49-0. A Haitian immigrant concessionaire
happened to be working the game, and he put a voodoo curse on the
Packers, the terms of the curse being that the Packers would never
again win a game in Philadelphia.

Not only have the Packers not won here since then, but several events
that have taken place in their five subsequent visits would tend to
confirm the existence of something supernatural being responsible:

1974: A 6-5 Packers team came to Philly as a 7 1/2-point favorite to
beat a 4-7 Eagles team that had lost six in a row. In a game played
under near-monsoon conditions, with heavy rain and gale-force winds,
Green Bay fumbled seven times in the first half and lost 36-14; the
Packers would not win again that season and finished 6-8 while the
Eagles didn't lose again and finished 7-7.

1978: Packers punter David Beverly missed the ball on a punt, his foot
never striking the ball, leading to a turnover. Green Bay nearly
tripled the Eagles' total yardage output but lost 10-3. The Packers,
7-2 entering the game, would finish 8-7-1 and miss the playoffs; the
Eagles, 4-5 going in, would finish 9-7 and earn an NFC wild-card berth,
their first of four consecutive playoff appearances under **** Vermeil.

1990: Backup Anthony Dilweg had to quarterback the Packers because Don
Majkowski, the starter, was in a Philadelphia hospital suffering from
Moldavian food poisoning, a rare (and frequently fatal) viral infection
that, according to the Philadelphia Department of Health, had not been
reported in the city since 1905. The Packers lost 31-0.

1994: Reggie White makes his first return to the Vet as an ex-Eagle,
and the Packers lost 13-7 in a week where all 28 NFL teams wore special
"throwback" uniforms in observance of the league's 75th anniversary.

1997: Ryan Longwell lines up for a game-winning 28-yard field goal
attempt. The kick is up ..... NO GOOOOD! Eagles win, 10-9 - and
Longwell has not missed a single FG from less than 35 yards out since.
