I installed a 4 channel Ipod Amp from Pyle. here is a link to the unit. http://www.pyleaudio.com/sku/PLMRKT...f-MP3-iPod-Amplified-65-Marine-Speaker-System
I connected it to its own battery as I had the room.
I am getting music thru the two speakers but I am not getting full vocals?
I've played and played with the wireing, gain, settings, etc to try and fix the problem but still getting the same result.
Any suggestions?

How is the ipod connected to the amp? Are you sure there are no Low pass filters switches on the amp?

Re: No vocals coming thru on Amp?

The Ipod/phone connects thru a 3.5mm aux cable (supplied with the amp). from the aux cable it is split to 4 rca plugs, 1 for each channel. the output side of the amp has a pos and neg for each channel (4) to be wired to the pos and neg on each speaker. The amp has two setting switches, one is RCA or Speaker the other is polarity (pos to neg and vis versa) on either RCA or Speaker, I have the same issue but there is obviously more power thru the RCA selection.
So I have the ipod/phone plugged into the Aux cable and have channel 1 and 2 of the RCA's plugged into the amp, having all 4 doesn't seem to make a difference and I have a speakers plugged in on channel 1 and another on channel 2 on the output side.

The only other thing I can think of is that my phone doesn't have enough power to push into the amp and out the speakers. Although this unit is advertised to not require a head unit, thus why I bought it. Didn't need a head unit.

Try this: Turn the gain all the way down, turn volume control on amp about 4/5 of the way up, set amp to "speaker" level input, turn the ipod about 2/3 volume, adjust the gain up until it starts to distort. Other than that, I have no clue. You may also want to try to play around with the EQ setting on the ipod. Are you absolutely sure there are no pass filter switches on the amp?

This is God's way of telling you not to play music on the boat.

You may have inadvertently put one channel of the stereo recordings out of phase. This often cancels the vocals which are usually panned to center.

Any suggestion on a fix, if that is the case?

Is there a crossover button on the amp? Mine will allow for just bass or full sound from all speakers.

There is no crossover button on this amp. The only two buttons are RCA/Speaker and Polarity. Followed by the Gain dial.

Do your speakers have seperate terminals for the tweeter and woofer? Are you using the speakers that came with the kit?

The kit I purchased was not with speakers, just amp and wiring. My speakers are Polk 4" marine and only came with one set of terminals.

This could happen if you connect both the left and the right to one speaker. You would only hear the difference of the two channels.

So then would I want to take channel 1 (+ & -) and connect to the positive terminal on the speaker and channel 2 to the negative?

Are they full range speakers? How many do you have connected? Only one wire(+/-) going to each speaker?

No...Channel 1 "+" goes to one terminal of a speaker and channel 1 "-" goes to the other terminal. To keep all the speakers in phase with each other, there is usually a marking of the speaker to determine which would be your positive connection.

That is a good question. Looking and the specs here is what I know.
Driver Comp: 4" mid/woofer
Tweeter comp: 3/4" Soft Dome
Peak Power: 120W
Continuous Power: 45W
Nom. Impedance: 4 ohm
Freq. response: 85Hz - 22kHz
Sensitivity: 91dB

Amp Specs.
4x100W RMS at 4 ohm
4x200W MAX at 4 ohm
2 ohm Stereo Stable
T.H.D: <0.05%
S/N Ration: >95dB
Channel Separation: >65dB
Freq. Response: 10Hz to 40kHz

Ok. I'm officially stumped. If you can take a few pics of what you have something might pop out, but other than that, you may have a defective amp.

Re: No vocals coming thru on Amp?

I will probably play with it more tonight. I'm thinking defective amp as well. But I'm also thinking it may be a ground issue. I have the unit grounded to the neg terminal on the battery. Should I also ground it somewhere else? it only provided one ground wire and only showed growning to the battery in the diagram.

No. Only one ground. At the battery. Do you have another source(other than the ipod) you can try?
