Re: Non counter rotating twin i/o's?

It's not at all surprising that boats were manufactured with non-counter-rotating I/Os, especially mass produced boats. If you don't see that, you've probably never worked in the manufacturing industry. Mass production is all dollars and cents; I once spent three months on a value added/value engineering team of 6-8 full time, salaried engineers whose only job was to cut $120 per build from a heavy axle production line over the course of one year. If that was my job, and I had the opportunity to quickly and immediately cut $200 per build for a fairly minimal end performance loss, I would of course do it. To not understand that is to not understand mass manufacturing.

I'm not trying to defend the practice, as it's already been well-established that counter-rotating is the superior performance option. But the reason you see non-CR manufactured boats is the same reason Maxum put a 2bbl carb on the 350 in my boat. Cheaper to produce.

What manufacturers are your referring to that built a boat since I don't know lets just say 40 years ago, 1982 and on, that outfitted boats with non counter rotating twin drives?

You don't have to tell me that this thread is going crazy (I suprised right now that it's still open, but then that seems to some posters point huh?), but than that's not from me is it?

You've got one guy hell bent on proving himself right for doing things wrong and then another chiming in just to be rude like has on other threads.

This should be a real good discussion about a topic that would be real useful to people that join this forum looking to buy and/or rebuild a boat

Ok,... You, just want to Argue,... This thread is Done....
