Yep, that's me. I just joined this forum a yesterday.
hi all
I bought this gem about five years ago mounted on an all original 1958 14-ft Fiberform runabout. All looks great and well matched, but now, after it has beeen sitting for a couple years, I let my nephew take it out and he evidently doesn't know to check the water pump (my fault for not checking). He ran it for about 15 minutes and when he came back, I noticed it was not pumping water. So,,,
Question 1. It was not hot, just warm to the touch and was still running very well, maybe ok?
Question 2. I found an impeller, gasket kit and instructions here: http://www.vintageoutboard.com/MImpellersLowerUnit/MERCImpeller_1.html
Can someone tell me if this is a good sight?
Seems like I'd be getting off real easy here for the whole shebang to only cost about $60.00. I have done mechanics all my adult life (I'm 60 now
) and do diesel mechanics on my 44-ft boat now. So, while I see by other posts here that working on this motor is going to be no picnic, I am not afraid to set it on a stand and start digging. And yes, I already have the colorful vocabulary to express the upcoming frustations.
Any advice on the vintage motors websight and final tips before I dig in will be most appreciated.

Thank you all.
