So I know that the water impeller should be changed BEFORE the stern drive doesn't deliver water and causes the engine to overheat. How does that apply to the OMC Stringer 800 series? It's $70 or more for the parts and looks like a lot of labor. I want to make sure that I need to do this yearly before I sink my teeth into this one. By the way, I have NO reason to suspect the current impeller is malfunctioning or off of spec. I also think the current impeller probably has 100 hrs on it.
