OMC Impeller in Stringer 800. Change it?

So I know that the water impeller should be changed BEFORE the stern drive doesn't deliver water and causes the engine to overheat. How does that apply to the OMC Stringer 800 series? It's $70 or more for the parts and looks like a lot of labor. I want to make sure that I need to do this yearly before I sink my teeth into this one. By the way, I have NO reason to suspect the current impeller is malfunctioning or off of spec. I also think the current impeller probably has 100 hrs on it.

not required yearly. every 3 years or so fine on a stringer with typical use (50 hours/year) .
The impeller will go 10 years, but the grease on the w/p shaft splines is the reason you need to go in there that often. And the impeller should only be around $25 so we put a new one when we grease the splines.
I might go 4 years on a boat kept on a trailer, 2 years on one left in the water as the grease tends to get washed out.

If we're not in the boat in the water, the boat is out of the water on the trailer. I think I'll push this until end of next season, then jump into the impeller/pump assembly. Thanks for the thoughts Howard!

And you can also expect to do a upper gearcase reseal at the same time. 'nutcase

Because I will notice a leak or because I should pro-actively change the seals so I don't get an leak that for sure is coming? Thanks 'nut...
