The hinge pins should have been put in with RED locktite which is hard to get out without heat. the strike could have oblonged the hinge pin holes making the bell housing damaged.
As far as the lower goes, without a teardown it is hard to know what damage might be done to the bearings, races and/or the housing itself on the inside. The bosses are meant to take a thrusting or rotating load not a side load.
