Re: Painting (?) A New Floor...
8 hours and the paint is no good. Those of us who have painted our boats with this method can guide you with all the details you will need. Take a deep breath and relax. It is not that hard. I have not seen a Lowe's yet that did not carry the Oil Base Acrylic Enamel Paint. They will NOT have the Hardener but you CAN order it online or prolly get it from Advance Auto like I posted previously. You can go to the Dollar store and buy a measuring container that will allow you to measure the hardener in oz's and make it easy to mix the paint. Some plastic measuring cups will allow you to get the appropriate amounts of paint as well. Some plastic containers to mix it all in would be good to. For Roll n' Tip painting, 2 cups of paint and 1 oz of hardener would be a good starting point if you are only painting the top cap of the boat. I painted my entire 16' Hull with 3 cups of paint. 1 1/2 cups did my top cap but I was spraying. I'm sure 2 cups rolling would have done it too.
I can't find that either. The more I try to find paint on lowe's website, the more I realize their website is terrible. I'll go there and person and see what they have.
So if I were to mix the whole 8 oz of hardner with a full gallon of paint, how many days would I have to use all the paint before it got ruined? It would be significantly easier to mix the whole amount at once, especially since I'm not totally sure how much paint I'll need per coat. But I could 'schedule' things so I do a coat per day for four days straight if I need to.
