Re: PB Blaster.

We have a John Deere dealer and I need to go there anyway, I run a JD lawn tractor, so will ask about PB Blaster there.

Re: PB Blaster.

I remember reading a post from an Austrailian gentlemen about the availability of off the shelf chemicals we have available here in the U.S. He couldn't believe that you can buy caustics like drain openers and hydroflouric mag wheel cleaners and Bar Keepers Friend (oxaclic acid)The guy really was amazed at this!! Just something to think about.PB is excellent stuff I've got a can or two in the garage.I don't know what a Euoropean equivalent would be.I did read that WD-40 was developed for the space program or some kind of lunar exploration('61 or '62) and WD is supposed to be the intials of the two chemical techies who developed it -after 40 attempts. (The propellant in WD-40 was changed in ca.'92 from propane to carbon dioxide, thats why it won't start the lawn mower like it used to.)Just a few rambles from my chair...Good night

He's shopping in the wrong places, all of the chems you mentioned are readily & easily purchased here. As with most countries - shipping can be a drama.<br /><br />For my money you can't beat 'inox' or wurths 'rostoff' (available in the U.K.) for penetration. Rostoff is also available with a non flammable freezing agent built in.<br /><br />BTW, "Australian Gentleman" is an oxymoron :D <br /><br />Aldo

FWIW,<br /><br />WD stands for Water Displacement. 40 is for the 40th formula. It is a poor lubricant and even a worse penetrant. It is way over hyped, beyond it's primary design. In a pinch, it is however, better than nothing and it is cheap if you buy it right, like at Costco.<br /><br />As a lubricant, it will shortly turn to gum and lock up precision parts. It has no more penetrating power than paint thinner does. It does displace water very well.

I will Charlie, but unfortunately it won't be for another 18 months!<br /><br />The dealer who quoted me 40-50$ shipping hasn't replied to my request to make an order  (<br /><br />Steve

NAPA Auto stores (here) normally charge about $5.50 for Seafoam and the is a little high by about 50 cents. I still haven't found the PBBlaster, will be going to John Deere today.

Re: PB Blaster.

I stopped by one of our Schuck's Auto store and found the PBBlaster and SeaFoam, both for $4.49 each. The mngr said they sell a lot of both products.

Re: PB Blaster.

At last!<br /><br />I made my order with midway autos this evening. One case of PB Blaster should be with me in 6 to 8 weeks! Boat is the cheapest option, and it takes a long time.<br /><br />Still I'm happy just to have some on it's way.<br /><br />Steve
