Re: need help wiring rpm, volts, trim, and fuel gauges and trim motor on 78 evinrude
Re: need help wiring rpm, volts, trim, and fuel gauges and trim motor on 78 evinrude
hopefully i get this right, that "house lamp cord" i believe that is the wire that runs straight into the tilt/trim motor, i just replaced a trim pump on a johnson 90 v-4, 3 months ago. that cord runs into a black plastic box it should have a connection in it somewhere for easy replacement if the pump goes out. as for your wires in the 2nd picture green and blue get paired up with the tilt/trim "house lamp cord"[unless those are from that "house lamp cord" then find the black plastic box and there you should see a green and blue wire
as for your black wires i have no clue as your second picture doesnt really show where at in the boat you are and i am not there to trace them backwards. it is insanely hard to try and tell you what goes where when half the wires on a boat are black

Problem1) Tilt/Trim Wires: The main harness has 3 wires coming from tilt motor---Green, Blue and Black. The harness looks good and has not been spliced into. Where do these wires go? Control box, guage or solenoid? There is another cord coming from the tilt motor (it really looks like a regular cord (black) from a house lamp or something). Where does that go? Its just 2 wires...Could that be an add-on for the second trim switch that was mounted on the bow? The other trim switch is on the OMC Control Box handle. Not sure if that trim switch even works.
