Re: Quick Oil Question
Maybe you should reconsider your decision to stick with synthetic. I'd rather use "regular" HD-30 than synthetic 10w-30. A 5w-30 or 0w-30 (synthetic or not) would be even lower on my list. I suspect most here agree.
I looked for you, there is an autozone in Ft. Walton Beach (I believe that is near you) that has Castrol HD-30 for $4.29/quart. The website says it is "normally stocked at your local store" (I had Ft. Walton selected as my local store).
Ok, it must have been something else that turned the oil into sludge... Whatever, I sold that POS a while ago so that's not an issue.
I wasn't trying to start a debate on weather or not to use synthetic, I always have and plan to keep doing it... The problem is I'm having a hard time finding synthetic SAE30 other than the Volvo brand that's $8.50 a quart, again the engine takes 9 quarts. I was really just curious if it really matters if I run 10W30 or not. I've never thought twice in my cars / trucks but boats run at a higher RPM so maybe that why I need SAE30??? I'm not an oil expert but I know I need to change mine and I'm sick of paying double for for Volvo oil...
