Re: Really tough question

Im no expert but id put the shifter in reverse ( so lower unit is in forward). Drop the lower unit. Put your shifter in forward. Reinstall lower unit. If that dont work id try a double ender.

Re: Really tough question

When you move the shift lever remote control in the boat to forward, does the shift lever on the motor also move to the forward position or does it move toward the back of the motor?

Re: Really tough question

All the controls work right and I had the lower unit off about five times before I had the water tube in I currently have the powerhead off to check the linkage under it it's fine too

lets start from the beginning. we know that something is reversed but you are not giving the information that will help the people who work on these motors a chance to work out where it is reversed.

forget right and wrong and please post the basics.

when i push the shifter on the remote forwards the pin goes.......up/down?
when the pin goes down and you look from above and turn driveshaft clockwise the prop turns clockwise/anticlockwise looking from behind?
when the remote pushes the shaft down the throttle cable moves slightly/all the way to max?

there are 3 options
1/ the remote isnt working the shift correctly
2/ the lower isnt correct
3/ the linkage for either the shift or the throttle is incorrect e.g forwards is forwards but the throttle will not open yet opens in reverse

Re: Really tough question

When I turn the driveshaft clockwise with the control in forward the prop spins in forward gear also I should mention it was not pumping water when I had the powerhead on

OK, now you are getting somewhere. You turn the drive shaft clockwise, and the prop turns forward? Then there is nothing wrong with that shift or linkage.

Now, when it is actually running with the shifter (on the motor, not remote control) in forward, is the prop turning forward? If not, then it must be running backward. That is possible, but so unlikely.

Naw, possible maybe, but how would you ever get it started backward? Ain't likely to happen.

I tried it with the controls disconnected before I removed the powerhead this is why when it was together I mentioned that it wasent pumping water because I don't think the impeller would pump water going cc

Re: Really tough question

Gotta figure out how to post pics. SOMETHING obvious is being overlooked. Without pics, we're just guessing at this point...

Re: Really tough question

Shouldn't be an issue. I post pics all the time from Macs here at work and at home using Safari...
