The Nothing To Do With Boats Section was initially intended to be a resource area where people could help each other out. Over the last year+ it has become a place where jokes are recycled 10 times over and people jump at the chance to report the headline from CNN first.

Are all those posts bad? NO! :) They just made it a pain to moderate and has made it very difficult for people who want to post on info-topics such as proper methods for cleaning their weedeater. ;) The problem was that their post quickly got devoured by all the other chit-chat posts. Let me put it another way - there are two types of regular iboats board members.

The first type of member comes because they love boats and love talking about them and helping fellow boaters with their boating problems. The second contributes very rarely to the boating discussions but likes coming back to talk about their views on homeless ex-NFL players who have made the news recently. Which of these members do we want to come here? ALL of you!!!

We just ask that you please respect others as well as the providers of these boards and post in the correct place while being respectful of other readers. The correct place for jokes and sharing your views on underage drinking is now this area. If you are offensive (even if you don't think you are), mean, vulgar or are just here to fight (we don't see many like this) then expect to see your posts regularly deleted. If you don't like these rules, please feel free to check out the chat/boards on yahoo.com. They have something for everyone.

Please also note that we will be reviewing the titles given to people. In the past, we have given the title of Admiral to anyone who has posted more than 1,000 times. We will now be giving out titles based on what type of content the 1,000+ posts contained.

In a nutshell, we love you all and are just doing some admin work to try to make everyone happy! I am sure there will be some exceptions but it is tough to please 35,000+ members now. :)

I agree, nice job.

I hope no one gives you any crap about it, I think reviewing the Admiral title is a very good idea, being that latley the so called "Admiral's" have been causeing the most prolbems.

Admin 5, The transmission topic was good advice. I've been ripped by two different places one I caught red handed and got my money back.

Like it or not it was good advise. It just happened to be funny cause of todays forum transition. er, Lighten up man.

You poofing it may cost someone here alot of money that could be spent on an outboard from Iboats. ;)

Don't want to seem stupid by no means, but what's the difference between Nothing to do with boats and Non-boating stuff?

Seems like one in the same to me.

If it is a non boating subject, would that not be the same as something that don't have nothing to do with boats?

Please clear this up for this ol country boy.

Oddjob - You are welcome here anytime! Now that I know you are a future customer I will give you a little slack. You were supposed to say that you were going to buy it from us to help pay for all of the bandwidth you have used up on these boards over the years ;) To show you no hurt feelings I would like to let you in on a little insider info, Click here to see how iboats maintains all the servers to run these boards.

Re: Reason for board changes *please read*

Hi spinner. Been a while since we last spoke. Hope life is good :) I will try to be more clear:

The board members who post in the other sections would like to have a place where they can post non-boating questions without having to share their posts with all of the posts of jokes and other banter of you regulars. If you are here to enjoy the community of iboats, post in the NTDWB section, if you want to post a topic about your lawnmower or computer and not have to look through 10 pages of jokes and debates a day later to find it, post in the new section. Trust me, this will make many people happy and doesn't affect most of you who only look at the NTDWB section. Thanks for understanding!

Gonfishn you can have mine.
I come here because I can get info I need and
usually a good laugh. And occasionally I can
offer some experience on a particular subject.
I think the title thing is kind of silly and
maybe a little overrated.
This is the first forum I registered for when
I was looking for info to help me with my outboard
troubles. Never spent much time on the computer
before.
Then I found people here that I had common ground
with and enjoyed interacting with them.

Now I feel like I have outstayed my welcome.
