I bought a 1998 270 Sea Ray with a 454 and Bravo III outdrive about 6 months ago. I have been having trouble with overheating. I started troubleshooting with the cheap stuff (thermostat, then sea water pump impeller, then hoses, etc.) and have moved towards the expensive end. I am left with nothing left to replace but the risers. I have always heard "risers". On my engine there are three major components on each side. In addition to the risers, wich are short spacers over each exhaust manifold, there are also a set of elbows (one for each side).
My question is this: should I just replace just the "risers" or should I replace all 3 - the risers, exhaust manifolds, and elbows?
