Re: rookie boater needing information
Hey 1972IMProokie head over to
http://impboatclub.com/forum/. This is an IMP boat specific website. There are several folks there that know the ins and out of what you are contemplating. You can also check out my
off forum site for my current 1984 IMP 215SC restoration. Complete tear down to the hull. New transom, new cabin rebuild with wet and dry storage. Fish lockers, new engine mounts are currently being built and there are lots and lots of small details. My boat came with a 305 Mercruiser/Pre-Alpha (R) OD. Probably won't help you with your OMC but Dave over there is a great resident source of all things OMC and is always willing to help.
Iola Molded Plastics: IMP
The original company was called Red Fish Boats in Kansas. In 1963 they were bought and renamed by the Iola Molded Plastics (IMP) and apparently were around by that name until some time in the past 5 or 6 years when they were bought out by a Florida-based company called International Marine Products. That company did not last for too long before going out of business. This is the history according to others that know much more than and have been around longer than me.
