Floor is mounted down and im at a point where I need to decide what im going to do for seating. I have these 2 really beat up back 2 back seats, the kind that lay down. Im thinking about building wooden boxes out of plywood and mounting 2 high back marine seats back 2 back on top of the base. I dont need these seats to lay down as im using the boat mostly for fishing. The boat is a 72 Sea Ray SRV 180 outboard (18'). Im open for any other suggestions as far as seating layout. As of now my plan is to build those boxes and mount 2 nice seats back to back on eachother and glassing the ply boxes with glass mat, then L bracketing them to the floor. So it will be 2 of those back 2 back on eather side and 1 single matching seat on eather side of the splashwell. This will provide 6 seats and also hopefully provide enough floor space for fishing. Like i said im open for any suggestions. I attached pictures of one of the back to back seats that i want to replace.

Re: Seat advice?? back 2 back kind

I have a similar situation in each of my boats, I tossed the back to back set up in favor of two pedestal seats and left the two rear splashwell seats there but only left the lower cushions so that a normal sized person could sit there if they had too. In my opinion there just isn't enough room to fish with the two rear facing seats in a smaller boat. My one boat is a 19' with a forward style dash, and even that was tight with the b to b box seats. I found two aluminum pedestal seats online and put them both up front, they swivel if I need to sit facing rearward while fishing. My one boat is a 17.5 bowrider in which I did the same, with the b to b seats, there was barely enough room to walk around, and at that, only enough room for one person at a time to be up and around.
