Industrial electricians use a heatless shrink covering on large electrical cabling. You slip it over into position and then pull a nylon thread out. As the thread pulls out (seems like there's miles of it inside) the tubing shrinks down tight.

There's also heat shrink tape - wrap it on like tape, then shrink-seal it with a heat gun.

There is also those kits to make your own custom hoses. I think it kind of works the same way... not familiar with it though. Summit racing or somewhere like that might have that stuff.

Re: Shift cable for omc

Great idea all, and thanks for the help, I went today and got some its from the City(my dads work) they use it for the cables in the water plant. The only problem is I took the cable out of the housing and the cut starts right at the end of the cable. I cleaned it all up and apply this heat shrink with a hot air gun and it seems that on the cable its holding but when you tighten it down back to the housing its not sealing there, I am going to wait for this I am assuming it like liquid tape, thick black stuff like bull to dry more and I might as well just seal the whole end, bolts and all. thanks for all the help, But I am still looking for an replacement in the meantime

Thanks again

I have mine drying right now and cross my fingers all is well. I think the heat shrink was the best idea, it looks. going to let it sit overnight before I mess with it again. before I button it all up I will test and see if it leaks..

I am ok with buying this boat, like to work on it in a way, that way I know what I have but finding the parts is like pulling teeth with pliers. will look into changing out the unit. soon
