Depth: 1500 ft.
(3000 ft with optional 200/50 kHz transducer for deepwater use)

Don't know what Lowrance's is.

I own the 997 combo chartplotter. Ive had it for about three years. Nothing but saltwater use.

I can see the ripples in the sandy bottom, crab traps on the bottom, anchors rising and fish under docks. I will never go back to a conventional sounder.

In the Gulf dessert you need all the help you can get to be on structure.

Lowrance has side-imaging now too, plus they also have a top down view. Theirs is called Structure Scan and is an add-on to there HDS units. You can watch a clip of it at http://www.lowrance.com/StructureScan/.


Great video. Next time I'm in the market for some new technology on the boat I'm looking into that StructureScan with Downscan technology. Truely bada**. It's almost like an underwater picture.

Humminbird has the down scan imaging available on their new units. The older ones will have a FREE software upgrade available soon.
