I lost my skeg a couple weeks ago and I was told I could weld a new one on. I also heard that I could get a skegshield.

Anyone have any luck with these or try them before? It looks like it might work if I happen to have enough left of my original skeg. They are made of Staineless Steel, I hear when it comes to props it is better to have a broken prop then a broken lower unit, I don't know if it is the same with the skeg.
Thanks,
