So What are We All Doing for the long weekend ??

Just curious.
I got home from Korea last night and am just having my 1st bout with jet lag after this trip.
We are heading to the trailer tomorrow afternoon for the long weekend and the rest of the family are coming up at various times depending on their schedules for the delayed birthday and fathers day celebration Weather forecast looks very promising and the boat is waiting at the dock for us and is reportedly still floating !!!

That's the thing, there is no long weekend since it falls on Wed. At leat not for the wife. She just gets the 4th off and that's it. We have no plans. Watch the parade/fireworks and call it a day. Gonna be kinda boring....... Maybe take a cruz in the goat.....

Wife and I gonna drive our Mustang ragtop up to Blowing Rock on the Blue Ridge Parkway for 4 days to escape this heat!...it's gonna be 100+ here in South Carolina next few days!....pretty darn hot even out in the boat! My mom was born on July 4th, 1915, and we really miss having her around!

Always strange when a holiday is in the middle of the week. The Coops went ahead and took the week off. We're going up to Branson for a few days of boating on Table Rock and sweating at Silver Dollar City. Our good friends are joining us and the vice admiral is bringing a friend. Should be a hoot. On an unrelated note, if you happen to see a miniature giraffe running around up there.............:redface:

I'm up at Eagle Lake, Ca. Got stuck here helping a friend out and I don't like to travel on holiday weekends so I think I'll just stay put and help another friend (boat shop owner) fix busted props and worn out impellers. The lake is very low and our bet is that the weekend warriors won't have done their home work regarding the new hazards on the lake. There's nothing like being stuck in paradise.

I love Branson and Tablerock! Had the pleasure of going there a few times when I traveled, great fishing!

Have the week off and we are doing the local day trips to beach, boat, Great Adventure, local water park, concert in Central Park NYC, Bronz zoo, fireworks on the East River NYC, etc...
This yr we are vacationing in the winter in Florida so the summer time off will be local and simple.

I "hear" we get the 4th off and possibly the 5th, newer mgmt has no clue how to plan in advance, although our sites are closed....
But heck, son and AI are flying down south/2 week vacation July 6th - thats all I really care about!! :>)

Friend of ours has a big farm and has a "picnic" (aka: party ) every year. Live music, free beer, sleep where you fall down kind of thing. My wife has been before we met but I've never been. Should be a blast.

Yeah, it's a very special place to me. When I was a pup we lived thirty minutes south of Branson in a town called Harrison and spent a lot of time at Silver Dollar City. We had friends who were wood carvers there and they always gave us season passes. Branson (and Sillver Dollar City) then were nothing like they are now. My dad somehow found enough money to buy a sixteen foot Arkansas Traveler with a 35 horse Evinrude Lark. It was old then; pretty sure it was a '59 model (this was in the late seventies/early eighties). Had some great times on Table Rock. We kept the boat in a slip at Cricket Creek Marina, and a guy who worked there and befriended me (I was nine) turned out to be an escaped convict. I've often wondered what happened to him........ Any way, I'm going to slip the barge there Tuesday night for old time's sake even though there are closer marinas. Plan to spend Tuesday on the lake, grill dinner, then night fish from the slip under a light. We'll go back Wednesday morning for a little more lake time then take the boat back to the cabin and head to SDC that afternoon for July 4th madness. Entry after 3:00 gets you back in free the next day, so I'm sure we'll return Thursday.

Ah you lucky guys!!

Found out yesterday that all Vacations for the summer are cancelled pending review on a case by case basis, weekly reviews due to conditions.

Have a couple for me fellas!!

Our company gives us the 4th and the day after. Since we have done well on getting out our last major revision release, we received an email from mgmt that they are giving all of us in engineering the friday off as well so we can all recharge! I like my company!

Going to my GF's cabin in Big Bear.

What long weekend? I think we get Wednesday off!?!?

We always have the nearest Monday off for Canada day. Beats a single day off midweek in my opinion. Occasionally the nearest Friday.
