Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

A blackout, which shut refineries down, is what happened.
Decreased supply cause prices to rise, I am afraid.

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

My neighbor works at the local refinery here, and he told me that they have so much oil and gasoline at the refinery that they have slowed production down!

They do not have the storage capacity to store anymore oil, and that the tankers are lined-up offshore waiting to unload!

The refinery had back-up power, so the blackout did not effect them!

The truth here is GREED!

The oil companies have once again taken advantage of a situation!

Hey Kenny here I have to agree with you 100% it is the gas companies greed noting else you know that the contracts for August delivery ( what the refiners paid for the raw gas) factoring in refining distribution taxes all except profit puts gas in the 120 a gallon range go figure

Yeah mellow...

Why is that?

We live in the same state and pay the same taxes, yet down here we always end up paying more!

You would think that we consume more gasoline than the upstate region, which in turn gives the oil companies more profit, yet they charge us more to make an even greater profit, instead of giving us a break.

Go Figure!

Capitolism must be hard at work here in SE NY!

Kenny

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

I live within 20 miles of literally hundreds of oil & gas refineries. I filled up today at noon and paid $1.68 for regular. This past weekend at the Marina $2.10 a gallon--which added up to $90 for a half a tank of gas.

Two weeks ago when I filled up the car gas was only $1.45. This is just ridiculous.

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

Kenny, I'd love to kick some major bootie over this.

And, while I'm doing it I'd like to kick the butt of whoever is responsible for making my grocery bill double in the last year. Simple cost of living and/or merit raises just don't cut it. The REAL cost of living is increasing so rapidly I don't know how we're all going to keep up with it.

I agree LadyFish!

Now my local Township wants to reassess all homes within the Town, so that they can raise our taxes again!

Not that they are high enough already!

Kenny

Ladyfish,

$1.68??

We're at $2.15. That's up from $1.47 two weeks ago. Of course, we have an excuse-broken pipe!

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

djohns19,

I don't know why a broken pipeline can cause so much havoc, unless of coarse the oil companies did not have a back-up plan.

These oil companies should be paying for all the cost overruns associated with the break, just like the electric utilities are here in the NE!

You people down there need to get gov't intervention or something!

Anyone who pay's these rediculous prices for gasoline and oil should sue them, just like I'm suing the electric company for all the lost stuff in my refridgerator!

Kenny

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

Kenny,

Basically, our Governor blew this one. When the pipe broke, the pipeline company contacted the Governors office. The response was basically: So what-don't bother us. The Governor is rafting and then she's going to a Governors convention-stop calling.

The pipeline company did have a back up plan, they wanted to be able to pump the non "Phoenix" blend fuel until the pipe could be repaired. About 30-60 days.

Once the Governor realized that the situation was ideed a CRISIS, she petitioned the EPA to allow regular fuel to come into the valley. Problem was, the situation was ignored for almost three weeks thus the reserves were nearly depleted.

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

I am ticked off too, these (^()^ Oil companies use any old excuse to raise the prices. I remember the last crunch when they say we had a shortage, all the EXXON tanks in the tank yard were so Full they were almost overflowing. They was just holding it trying to drive the price up even more. My wife's Grandpa worked for EXXon for 30 or 40 years, back when it was Esso and Standard Oil. After that crises knowing those tanks were full, I won't, to this day buy Exxon gas.

OK, I'm off my soap box.

Just one of GodsBeast's
