Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

Ralph is right.

Also:
The earlier posts of this thread were fixed on blaming BIG OIL... I read on and finally plywoody finished that lead with blaming BUSH..plywoody laid a good trap on some of you. Thats a liberal mantra not based on facts. Thanks to alot of media since before and during this Bush administration alot of moderates and libs fall for this. Pitty.

My neighbor works at the local refinery here, and he told me that they have so much oil and gasoline at the refinery that they have slowed production down!

They do not have the storage capacity to store anymore oil, and that the tankers are lined-up offshore waiting to unload!

The refinery had back-up power, so the blackout did not effect them!

The truth here is GREED!

The oil companies have once again taken advantage of a situation!
KKC the oil companies would make more money if there were enough refineries to process as much gas as we need. The problem is the DEMS (Dashle)and tree huggers will not pass any legislation by the Bush to expand our oil production, refineries, or new drilling. Same thing with the electric grid hardware upgrade needed. Nobody wants a Refinery or a powerline/transformer in their backyard! Cant have it both ways, folks. Guess what...this Country is growing... and so is our consumption.

The shortage trickles down to the gas companies/stations that have to bid more for the gas they need in order to secure it first then pay to have it trucked sometimes long distances and unfortunately must pass it on to the consumers.

Want unlimited supply at a low cost? open the liberal gates and flood the market..Vote or support a candidate who wants to do what is necessary. That would be Bush and the legislation he has already tried to pass unsuccessfully.

Supply and demand, think about it.. Should get the gov to put price controls on all consumer products? were dones it end. That sounds like socialism to me. Some folks will follow their emotions after being brainwashed to hate capitalism.

Sorry for my spelling.

OJB

Re: SOARING GAS PRICES

So a few details: I did the XOM off the top of my head...It was trading at about $32 in January, and about $37 today--so it is only about 16%-not 20--and in the last 12 months it made 17.4 billion and annual profit growth of 10.7% Sounds like a good buy to me.

Bank of America (the only one I checked) have a buy rating on it, and it is today within a few percent of a 52 week high--But it is hardly flat, and the current situation is hardly adverse to them, and I don't think it is time to shed many tears for them.

And when did I blame Bush for anything in this. I said it was normal market fluctuation.

PW - just can't admit when you are wrong can you?

Don't quit your day job. Take a good finance class and learn how to read a chart.

We should all rush out and buy underperforming stocks that are trading at the same price as last year? Great advice! By the way, that is called FLAT - let's look at the last 3 months:

xom3.gif

Yup FLAT!

Gee the Bush admin has been really good for these companies haven't they!

Gee the market is stupid. They are really missing the boat on this gem aren't they!

As for "buy" recommendation, well I guess you haven't heard about the problems with institutional research. That garbage is for dumb retail investors waiting to be fleeced. Haven't you heard about all the awsuits and what Elliott Spitserdid in NY over this whole issue?

Buy it! Help yourself. Your an American, dont be afraid to succeed. Its ok to do that here.

Bank of America (the only one I checked) have a buy rating on it, and it is today within a few percent of a 52 week high--But it is hardly flat, and the current situation is hardly adverse to them, and I don't think it is time to shed many tears for them.
Let me clarify. I didnt say to feel sorry for the oil companies, feel sorry for the consumers. And consumers...I bet Tom Dashle (DEM) has oil stock, since he is standing in the way of cheaper gas as I stated above. The oil companies are going to make money either way, its the consumers who will pay the difference. You cant be in business to lose money. The choice is ours: Buy oil stock and compensate or support the Bush legislation to decrease demand = lower/ease cost.

And when did I blame Bush for anything in this. I said it was normal market fluctuation.
PW
The answer is to hedge the cost of your gas by buying oil company stock. The oil companies did not give those big campaign contributions to Bush without a plan to reap some benefits from it, of course, and here some of them are.
Ok PW, your on record for not blaming Bush as of now. But you did fan the media flame and brought him up just as the media does, you were trying to create suspicion, typical.
:)
