Had a prop hub "spin" out of the blue today.....didn't hit anything.
Thought I had weeds on the outdrive.

Replaced prop and all is well.

I'm not complaining....was just surprised.

It was an "old school" prop, not the seperate hub........

How old was it? In time rubber deteriorates and gets hard and cracked. Can't provide the flexibility necessary for a slip hug. For the record, if I can help it, I will not buy a replaceable hub prop. Don't need to, have 4 for my current engine and will probably die before I wear them out.

Now I have to decide if it's worth getting this one fixed or getting a new one.

Re: Spun Prop Hub

It was probably the best performing prop I had.....keep in mind this isn't a speed boat.......

Just looked on iBoats and looks like I could get a 17" Vortex for less than $100 w/ shipping.....seems like a good deal.

Not sure how much it costs to re-hub a prop.

Sounds like a plan. Time to execute. Grin
