Re: Stuck Motor

Yep.... gotta take the drive off first. Then disconnect the fuel line, the transom plate to tstat housing water line, the boat side engine harness, and the 3 motor mount bolts then it's out.
You forgot something.

Re: Stuck Motor

Go to the Adults Only sticky at the top of the forum, then go to the Merc Manuals link and download the manual for your engine and outdrive. Then, follow the directions (that includes pictures) and you will know how to do it right the first time, without breading things along the way.

PS: Welcome to iboats.

Re: Stuck Motor

You might be able to get them out if you are lucky enough to not damage something, but if you pull the drive, it can't bind on the splines and cause a problem.

Re: Stuck Motor

well i still dont know if its the stringer...is it? the motor is good, the outdrive lockedup so i was thinking it was the motor. i was really hoping it was the motor that locked up, just would have been easer to fix, im good with engines. i guess im gona try my hand a un-sticking the dirve.
im the reason for the ol saying "if it wasnt for bad luck i wouldnt have no luck at all"
