Was working on my boat today to prep for dumping it in next weekend. I have an SX Drive with the vertical trim pump.
The drive has 100% motion up and down, but when putting the drive down, the pump makes a whining noise. I got out my drive manual and topped off the fluid level. The previous owner looks like they used ATF fluid. I used hyd. fluid. When I top off the fluid level, I get one time of putting the drive down with no whining noise. Lift the drive back up and all is good. Lower the drive the second time and the whine comes back. I tried cycling the pump with the fill cap off to bleed it out but no luck, still have whining noise. Am I just bleeding this the wrong way or has the ATF and Hyd fluid contaminated everything?
If the pump was bad, I wouldn't have full range of motion with the drive would I?
Forgot to add that I no leaks anywhere.
