Re: taxes?
What is needed is a "Consumption Tax" on every penny you spend. No exceptions except interest recieved.
Personal Income Tax has to be reduced or iliminated to compensate of course.
The end result is: you pay no more, but EVERYBODY pays. That is the crunch.
Set it at 10-15%.
It is the most fair and just tax system you will have.
Every bludger pays his share
Every dodger pays his share
Every honest person pays no more than his share.(which is not the case now)
The more you earn, the more you spend, and when you spend you pay a small %.
Very simple. I love it. And a lot of Countries have it, and the best ones are the ones with no exemptions.
Plays hell on the black money too, because as soon as they buy/spend.... bingo....10% thankyou.
If you believe the people on the big incomes (never salary or wages) pay their share, forget it....it dosn't happen. It does with a Consumption Tax though.
And what was amusing about these discussion back in 2000 (down here anyway) was that the masses of middle income salary/wage earners who were being taxed to death were the ones who didn't want the system changed.
It has never been fair-er.
And that is coming from a poor sod that has to collect this tax every quarter, forward it to the Tax Office, all at my expence, all 6hrs of it, and suffer the audits, and the corrections/adjustments etc....but it is still a fair tax and good for everybody.
Cheers
Phillip
