Why is it that if you are traveling inside a van/cube truck going 70 mph and you jump up that you do not move to the rear of said vehicle?
Its because you are moving at the same speed as the van. You will be moved back but the increment is unnoticable. The reason i say this is because you jump you have gravity acting on you and the speed at which your moving forward will slow because of the pull of gravity. The baseball will slow down because of air resistance. This is the exact reason we have seat belts because if we wouldn't we would keep moving at the vans speed when it has hit the brick wall.
We don't know.Ah.. this brings up the ole question: If you are in an elevator, and its cable snaps - if you jump up just before it hits the bottom, will you land softly?
