The British monetary system has changed a great deal since I have had any experience with it. How is based now? Pence, shilling, hawf crown crown pound, quid???? I thought they were changing to a decimal system but am so far removed from it not sure anymore. Don't make me google this.....Originally posted by RPJS:
Thats a British coin, worth about$0.05
Ya, heycods 10P is equals to 2 BobOriginally posted by rolmops:
They went decimal about 36 years ago.You forgot tuppence and bob.
It used to be 12 pence makes one shilling,60 pennies make a crown.one crown is 5 shilling and 20 shillings make a pound,21 shillings make a guinea and one girl from the Isle of Man makes it all worthwile
Not to mention a song of six pence. When my wife and I were married she wore the traditional six pence (one I had brought back from England) in here shoe. I still have one of the old pound notes. Guess you know what a beating I took on that one.Originally posted by rolmops:
They went decimal about 36 years ago.You forgot tuppence and bob.
It used to be 12 pence makes one shilling,60 pennies make a crown.one crown is 5 shilling and 20 shillings make a pound,21 shillings make a guinea and one girl from the Isle of Man makes it all worthwile

I got it in some change today, figured it was English but thought it strange, no country of origin.
Is the exchange rate still about a dollar eighty to the pound? If so wouldn't that be more like 20 cents? How many pennies to the pound? How many Euro dollars to the dollar US?Originally posted by RPJS:
Thats a British coin, worth about$0.05

When I exchanged for the Pound Sterling it took two dollars and eight-four cents to buy it. The British Pound is worth a dollar and seventy seven cents. If there are one hundred pennies (pence) in a British pound that means your ten pence is worth almost eighteen cents. So you didn't get beat quite as bad as it first seemed. I have no idea what the note that I am holding is worth, but I doubt if any one would be willing to force me to part with it.
Which is worth more the Mexican Peso or the Hong Kong Dollar?Originally posted by heycods:
Naaaaa techno> TELL US!!!![]()
