well i cant put if off anymore i think the old boy is finally telling me he wants to go home. cant get up this morning at all is panting real hard. i knew it was coming but it is still very hard, he just looks at me like hey could ya do something to help me out here. just turned 15 a week ago. been a great friend i am gonna miss him.<br />

yeah i have been lifting him for the last year and half up steps or into the van but he could always get up by himself and loved to walk around. but started yesterday could not even stand by himself and today even after helping him up he doesnt stand to long. have a steak in the fridge i am gonna cook up for him shortly then i will take him in. thanks every one for the thoughts, they really do help

FSHKPR, I truly feel for you, Buddy. I had to do the same thing twice in the same year with two of my beloved Lab- Border Collie mix 16 year olds. I can tell you this; as much as it hurt to have it done, and as much as it still hurts to think of them, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I did the right thing. Sorry to hear about your dog. We went thru the same thing in Nov. I know how hard it is. I couldn't even be in the room when the deed was done.

That's a terrible decision to have to make. I know I'm nearing it with my old guy. Be strong and know it's for the best at this point. Hope you can be there through the end with him.

FSHKPR, I had to take pepper to vets a couple months ago and do the same. She was my buddy for a lot of years was the kids dog but ended up being my dog if i was working on cars boats running log splitter or chain saw she was with me. I did make her a steak the night before stayed up almost alnight with her she slept mostly stayed with her while the vet gave her the shot did not want her to be there alone at that time. You just cant find friends like them Take care. ... Mike ...
