Ahh...another project! Are you sure your yolk shaft is grooved? May just be a bad seal... On the other hand, you could speedi-sleeve it and not have to go looking at replacing the yoke shaft (are your u-joints that bad, too, that you would want to find a "used" u-joint setup?) A new yoke shaft is about 130.00...and then you could look at new u-joint crosses and bearings (50 bucks a set).... all not much more than 200, for new pieces. The spanner wrench is 35 bucks on amazon. Not advisable to try and go after that retainer nut without the "right" spanner.... People have done this and have not had good results (unless you craftly build your own spanner....but what is your time worth?). You need to make sure your wrench (whatever you choose to use) applies the correct 200 f-tlbs torque (as explained in the manual) and doesn't mess up the tabs (could affect the bell housing O-ring).

I've got he bell housing back on along with the bellows and shift cable, but I've decided just to go with a new outdrive. The low end has a slow leak and has a ton of play in the gears... not to mention the top bearing cage has obviously taken a beating somehow. The top had obvious gear damage as well and a leak. The drive needs to be replaced so I don't see any reason to waste $100 to $300 on it when a new drive is only $1300 shipped and comes with a 3 year no-fault warranty. Based on the bent prop and broken skeg I knew the outdrive might have been bad when I bought it so at least it wasn't too much of a shock. :D
