Re: Tragedy at sea world
Been doing some looking, Tillikum is 30 years old. He was captured in 1983 when he was about 2 off the coast of Iceland. He is around 12,000 lbs. He was primarily used to splash the audience.
The first person he was involved in the death of was a trainer who was drug into the tank with "Tilly" and two females. They "tossed" her around, like they were playing with her, till she drowned. The second person he killed was a tresspasser in the park who hid in the park until after closing and then jumped in the tank............Darwin Award. Then of course, the horrible incident earlier this week.
I feel like a complete dolt......I have been surfing for info at several sites, and my better half just found it all at Wikipedia.............
I don't know if he was old enough to know how to take care of himself when he was captured. Even if he did, he has been fed for 27 years, would he be able to survive?? I can also envision him approaching boats and vessles looking for human interaction. I think he could be very hazardous in the wild, still looking for human interaction. Maybe he should be kept and used in a purely stud capacity?? Or maybe kept in the same capacity but with absolutly no people in or near the tank??
I dunno.......just some thoughts.
