As already stated, it can't hurt. That being said all transoms are designed to support the engine weight not to mention the torque produced while underway. Common sense dictates weight hanging from a pivot point produces stress points so the use of a transom saver will transfer some of the weight load. Obviously the transom saver was designed with the primary purpose in mind being to transfer road shock to the trailer as well as helping secure the motor better. It depends on your storing situation. I can't use it because my garage bay isn't long enough. Sitting idle it's just dead weight and I have no big concerns the transom will be affected yet still if you can use it, it does transfer weight load. No rocket science.
