Trim pump motor?

Hi all,
I have an Alpha Gen2 outdrive. How often is there intermittent issues with the trim pump motor itself?

Went to get the boat for the first time of the season. I have trim switches on the transom as well as the throttle lever. When I went to raise the drive to trailer it home with the transom switch, I heard the 'click' but the trim motor did not run. I tried both up and down, same result. I tried the throttle switches with the same result. Finally, after pushing the switch a few times, the trim motor started to run and raised the drive. Pushing the switches now, it works 3 out of 4 time, with both switches and both directions being intermittent. I cleaned the lugs with the gnd from the pump with no effect. Before I run out and buy a trim pump motor, can their be corrosion or lack of lubricant in the pump motor that would cause this?

Thanks!

I was thinking since the coils energized, the +12v was good... They must come from separate sources... Thanks, I'll check that next.

Does the trim motor get wet? That sure doesn't help. Solenoids have contacts inside that can get burned and not work all the time or take a few clicks to make contact.

Agree with Don here. Mine did the same thing with the "will it work or not" routine. Got tired of playing and replaced both the solenoids and have never had a problem since. You can power direct to the motor to verify motor is moving in both directions. More than likely the solenoid contacts are wearing out though. Cleaned all my connections and sealed with liqiid electrical tape and have never looked back.

Great though taking each the motor lead straight to battery... That will rule out any solenoid or connection issues. Thanks.
