unknown impeller 1983 4hp evinrude,

hi,can any one help me out,iv just bought 2 evinrudes 4hp,one with a gear and one with out,the gear one is running and i bought the over for parts BUT so far nothing fits,both impellers are diffrent in size and looks,the gear one has a impeller with a nut in the middle and the impeller goes over it and has a pin,the over is a all in one with a square key cut out,i cant find the right one for the one with the gear,have thay stopped making them???????.any help would be greatfull matt...

i could not find the model listed on the BRP parts diagrams. suggest you buy the parts and service manual.

hi,still trying to find the right impeller but were all coming up with nothing,here is the model number e4brcta-serial b015389,tag number 390692 and 8-b1-bl.im dead in the water with out the right impeller its alot smaller the my over 4hp and it has a steel nut in the middle and has a pin and not a square key.hope you all can help.more poeple who can help me the better,many thanks matt.p.s i think its a 1983 evinrude....

It would be a good idea to take your model number and your used impeller to an OMC dealer and they may well have access to parts diagrams (and numbers) for it. You will also need to tell them if it has a weedless prop or standard. (most that I've seen up here are weedless) I know the ones with forward were called "deluxe" but I have no idea when they started or quit calling them that. It makes sense to me the parts are different from one having neutral to one that does not. Best of luck. Rick.

e4brcta is the same as the e4brhcta in the parts catalogs except for the fuel tank.

New waterpumps were introduced in 1983 for the 4HP motors. They are part #394115 wo/housing and 394116 w/housing. Refer your BRP authorized dealer to SB #2097. If you have the improved pump, you will need the correct impeller, #389576.
