Looking for any help!! I have an AQ 151A from 1986 in a Sun Ruuner 210B . I have rebuilt the top end of the motor and it runs amazing!! the issue I have is the strainer housing on the side of the heat exchanger. It seems that when I put it back together I pushed the coolant line from the sea water pump into the back of the strainer housing to hard and it broke the 90 degree connection on the back. it broke right where the screws go in and hold it in place. I have reattached it with some JB weld and it seems to hold fairly well but it makes me nervous when I take the boat out. So the questions is has anyone bypassed the strainer housing and if so how? I researched the part and for that little plastic part is like $300 any advice would be greatly appreciated.

JB can be OK if its in a non or low pressurized area. Things like engine block cracks have been done but cracks are small and the block walls are strong.

Your in an area which was fairly thin to begin with and this is (my guess) why it broke. If it broke underway, this could be a sinking issue, correct?

Post some pics and lets see what your looking at

I do not think that if it broke/failed while underway it would be a sinking issue, only because as soon as I shut the motor down the pump would stop pulling the water from the out drive.

That is one of the parts for the assembly, the other part is the actual strainer housing. The "ears" where that connects are broken on one side of it of it. Where that connects the screw holes are actual broken out.
