Re: wall mart
PJC, I hope I am not missunderstanding you, if I am, my appologies. I don't think the average small business owner is very different than the average worker. We work long, hard hours and are trying to make a living and a better life for our families. Now for the differences, the business owners have taken a substantial risk, many times risking their family home and any property that they own, betting it all on the idea that their business will succeed. Many times, these business fail, and everything they gambled is lost. For the few that succeed, or those that crawl back up and try it again and succeed, they are entitled to reap the benefits of their sacrifice and the rewards from taking a risk and succeeding. Have you ever worked for weeks, months and even sometimes years without a paycheck ? Most likely not. When you go to work for someone else, are you putting your savings and family home at risk ? Probably not. As a worker, you certainly do not have to deal with the complex red tape and production killing time that the government forces business owners to deal with just to stay open.
The other side of the coin : there are people that are capable of working, yet have never worked a day in their life. Their are men and women that are making babies that they don't care about and or will never support. There are illegal aliens flooding this country and sucking up every last bit of aid and welfare they can get their hands on, and are not contributing one bit to paying for any of it.
You want to talk about fair ? Some of us work 12 or more hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, pay for 100% of our own health benefits, pay our employees first, make sure their families are taken care of, make sure that our suppliers are paid, pay our taxes, still donate to charity and our church.........and we take every legal tax deduction we are allowed to take. Yet somewhere in our neighborhood, there is a "family" that is living in housing paid by the government (that means us), the "man" doesn't work, the woman has eight kids by eight different men, has never been married to any of them, won't say who the fathers are and completely lives on government assistance (paid for by us). The "man" gets drunk every day, the woman does nothing but talk on the phone, the kids are running the neighborhood, with no supervision, and will probably follow in the footsteps of their...ummm...."parents".
And I'm supposed to feel guilty about taking every tax break I can ????? Sorry....I'm tired of paying for crap like this, every 10 cents I save on taxes, is ten cents you can pay if you wish to support the mess this country has become. If you want to reward lazy, unresponsible behavior.....go for it.
