12';
Comparing the war to Vietnam?
There are more parallels than there should be.
And since I'm a veteran of that era my reaction is substantial.

BTW Twelve, your writing and arguements have greatly improved over the years and they are first rate here.

Re: War in Iraq

12' footer,

Thanks for the left handed compliment, I think.

But the issue I was refering to was the pre-war intelligence and the associated hype, not the leaked CIA interrogations and prisons.

That may well be important, I don't know exactly, but it was completely off topic.

Is that what Brent was referring to when he suggested I was "smoked" I think the word he was looking for was smokescreen, and that was what I was subjected to.

There is nothing more important to the citizens of this country than the decision to go to war. It should be only as a last resort, when all else has failed. It should be based on as accurate intelligence as is possible.

Clearly the intelligence was wrong. That should be a major concern to all Americans, and I want to find out why it was flawed. I want it thoroughly investigated. I don't care who it may or may not implicate, and I don't understand why the repubs are trying to block the investigation, and why it took the "stunt" of the dems in the senate to go into closed session to force to completion the investigation that has been stonewalled for the last 14 months.

PW2
I agree.
its time for a cleaning.\
if the investigation dusts a few folks then it was time to dust. I dont care who gets dusted if they were doing wrong, either a legal technicality or actual crimminl intent, they were wrong and should be held to a higher standard than the average american worker. they are either elected or appointed by persons elected and either way should have a higher ethical standard than what has been shown in the past 3 decades.

Wow, what a great bunch of opinions. Very little name calling except from those who we all expect it from.

Look at the great ideas, and the thought processes involved. And best of all no one in this great country will be marched out and shot for it. Gotta love America.

Those of you who asked about me. Yes Hipocrit, I registered in the last pres election as a Republican because I wanted to vote AGAINST George W. Bush twice, once in the primary and once in the general election. I truly believe him to be deceitful, dumb and evil, but he is my president too. Thanks again for all the great imput.
