Hi all...
So I have my boat up and running well so far. One pump of the throttle and it fires up and idles without hesitation. Ran it up to 2500 RPM...immediate throttle response and no signs of stumble whatsoever.
I've set the dwell(31deg) and the idle(580RPM...in gear).
I know I need to check the timing(base to -6Deg BTDC...Advanced around 30deg) use my vacuum guage to tweak the carb from the suggested initial setting.
Should I wait until I get it wet to proceed, or can I go ahead and set these in the driveway also.
Will the added back pressure be of any consequence on these?
I read that I should have set the initial dwell at one or two degrees below the suggested "low" end as with new points the wear bar will conform(and wear) to the distributor cam quickly, therefore decreasing the gap("raise" the dwell number) more rapidly when new.
Thanks for the time!
