What is my gear ratio?

I have a volvo 280 leg.
The motor is out of the boat.
I turn the shaft in my bell housing approx 1 and 2/3 turns to make my prop turn once.
I'm thinking this is probably the 1.65 gear ratio that a guy is always hearing about.

But I thought it was the other way around and one turn of the shaft turned the propeller 1.65 times.

I dunno.

You're thinking correctly. A 2:1 gear ratio means it takes 2 revolutions of the crank to turn the prop 1 revolution.

The more revolutions of the shaft you make the more accurate the math formula can be, just sayin'...
