That is the circuit breaker for the main power of the boat. Trim power comes off the motor side.

Pretty robust. Have not had an issue with mine. Pull the two screws on the transom and put a meter across the terminals on the back.

Thanks guys ,will do.Pressing the red button is basically a reset??
It's on there for an unexpected current surge. If that happens the internal circuit breaker opens. As alldodge said, the button is to reset it. Before you go to a lot of trouble push it and see if it resets. If so, fine. If not one of 2 reasons: Broken internal switch, or continuous current overload.

Thanks, kinda weird that all was fine when winterized and it's just been sitting. Puzzling but will check .Thanks Charlie

Not much room without removing a battery but the connections inside the breaker that I can see are pretty crusty looking. What setting does multimeter go.on for a test? I have a Greenlee DM55 ,I'm thinking V--20? Never used a meter before. Lol. Will try to post a pic of crusty breaker

no, red probe on one of the terminals and black probe on ground of Bat of the block

Put red probe one at a time on each terminal of the breaker, they should both read the same

Ok ,it's seems like the connections are the issue. Too crusty. Neg on battery and probe on 1 connection reading was less than 1,when I moved probe half inch from the connection 12 came up

Remove the breaker from wires and clean everything up and reinstall

When you have breaker off and clean, put meter on ohms scale and touch one probe on each terminal. You should read 0,0 ohms

Note, don't do this test with any wires connected to it

Ok got it. Just testing the breaker alone at that point. Thanks. I just sprayed it down with deep creep Seafoam and will tackle removal tomorrow. I don't think connections are coming off easily. Thanks again

Hoping I don't sound like a complete tool here but should I be able to temporarily connect the 2 leads together after I remove the breaker and until I get a new breaker if needed?? Just to keep my bilge pump connected for a day or 2 ??
