What makes you feel rich?

Not many would consider me "rich". I ran out of retirement money and had to sell off all but 1.5 acres of The Hideout to get money to live on. Getting a job is not an option because I am 76 years old and in risky health.

But I am rich.

I have 4 middle aged, successful children, 7 grandsons, a granddaughter and 4 great grandsons. Each is a treasure and makes me so proud that it tears me up.

My home and car are paid for and I owe nobody a dime that is not paid off each month.

I can go grocery shopping and never look at the prices or mess with a calculator.

There is much more. My life is too full of good stuff to sit around and gripe about what isn't.

Interesting this subject came up today. Brought an artificial xmas tree that I no longer use to a group home for foster kids last night. Seeing the excitement of all these kids with something so simple makes me realize how fortunate I am.

Waking up in the morning and realizing that I have been given yet another opportunity makes me fell rich.

Family and my current lifestyle make me feel rich. Not that I am overly wealthy by any means but I enjoy every minute of what I have and everything I do.

I lost my Dad a couple of weeks ago, He had been battling cancer for the last year. He put up a Hell of a fight. Watching him lose a little here and there and grow old in front of me was the hardest thing I`ve ever had to deal with. Just before he passed we had dinner with him and the family, they were running around the house going about their lives . Kids on cell phones, grand babies yelling and playing, the smell of supper cooking from the kitchen. I looked over at him and he was smiling and I asked him what he was thinking. He told me, " Life is good enjoy it while you can son". I`ll never forget that moment. Love ya Dad.

@ReHab, brought tears to my eyes, lost my dad almost 4 years ago and the scenario was identical to the letter. Lost him on New Years day but he hung on through Christmas. Christmas dinner was when he said almost exactly the same thing. Took him to the hospital the next day.

I'm blessed with a lovely wife, a son and daughter and two grand children and a great rapport with uncles, aunts and cousins, we are a close knit family

Own home mortgage free, a modest home no mansion

Car and truck paid for.

Also go to grocery store with out looking at prices. Grocery shopping is a hobbie to me, the wife says I buy food that we do not need and she is right about that.

Travel without worrying about cost , but, am frugal on prices.

Was blessed with a job (business) that I loved and couldn't wait to go to work.

Very fortunate to have gone fishing and hunting with good friends.

And like JB my health has become an issue and I will not succumb to the chair and TV, there is plenty to occupy myself with.

I feel rich...I have 4 beautiful girls who are growing up to be fine young women. A good job that affords me the few toys I want in life. I earn everything I have and have not been handed anything or take it for granted. Mostly, I have an awesome wife....and she loves that damn boat of ours as much me

Being out on the water Doing well in school, driving, building stuff, having my health back after being sick last year, working out, finishing any project...

My wife and daughter. Both are priceless treasures that were given to me. I didn't do a single thing to deserve either one.

Enough good health to step outside and watch the sun come up, a hot cup of coffee in the morning and something to eat every day, a roof over my head, a hot shower, a warm dry bed to sleep in, and a good, healthy wife to enjoy it all with....how much better can it get?

Last night while sitting in the cockpit, sipping on a brew, and watching the stars. The feeling of being surrounded by spirits and my God looking over me makes me rich, not feel rich.

I have similar thoughts,

I love being high up in the Rocky Mountains, 13,000', Scouting or Hunting looking down on this beautiful earth surrounded by snow capped peaks above timberline, always seemed spiritual to me, maybe not rich but a Special feeling for sure.
