Re: What makes you feel rich?

Great thread JB!! God bless ya' for starting it.

There's just too much when I stop and think about it. Each day is a new granting from God Almighty. I'm loved by an amazing woman and three beautiful kids. I couldn't ask for a better job, and it supplies our needs well enough. I live in a great place, and have the freedom to enjoy the blessings I receive. I have satisfaction, hope and joy. I don't think you can put a price tag on that kind of stuff.

BTW JB - My grandfather battled Parkinsons the last several years of his life. Oddly, during those years he and I lived closer than we ever had before (within 15 minutes - and we had typically been a couple states away at least). He got frustrated because he couldn't do anything that he really enjoyed any longer (painting and sailing were two biggies). When I'd visit (usually at least once per week), we'd just chat for a while - a lot about Great Lakes ships and painting, but all sorts of other stuff too. I know he felt useless - he used to say so. But I think those years were some of the most precious times I had with him, and they're very important to me.

I'm sure you're equally as important to the 8 grandkids and 4 great grandkids you mention in your first post - even when you don't know it.

Family.

When something goes astray, and it sometimes does, my family has been behind me 100%. I have a small family but we are closer than most even though we are seperated by many miles. I have found it great to talk to each of them weekly, even if it's just to say hello. all's OK, etc. It tightens the bond.

My father was fiercly protective of his family (me, brother, mom, etc.) and that transferred to me. A good trait, IMHO. I hold that tradition dear.

Re: What makes you feel rich?

The good Lord allowed my wife to survive a bout with breast cancer in 07....she is still cancer free.

He blessed my wife and I both with families that were able to take the time to help get her to all the chemo treatments she had to take so I could get back to work with out having to go on FMLA.

He allowed my son to survive a horiffic car wreck when a drunk ran a red light doing about 70 and t-boned him.

Wife and I both have a good jobs, home and vehicles both paid for.

Son will graduate MS State this spring with a dual degree.

Both my parents are in their 90s still with us and in good health.

I'm both blessed and rich beyond words.

Re: What makes you feel rich?

Not many would consider me "rich". I ran out of retirement money and had to sell off all but 1.5 acres of The Hideout to get money to live on. Getting a job is not an option because I am 76 years old and in risky health.

But I am rich.:p

I have 4 middle aged, successful children, 7 grandsons, a granddaughter and 4 great grandsons. Each is a treasure and makes me so proud that it tears me up.

My home and car are paid for and I owe nobody a dime that is not paid off each month.

I can go grocery shopping and never look at the prices or mess with a calculator.

There is much more. My life is too full of good stuff to sit around and gripe about what isn't.:)

What makes you feel rich??

You know something JB, you are the wealthiest person I know! This time of year people are too focused on the almighty dollar and forget about what really counts. My family and friends make me richer than any amount of money I have.
