If the stripes were black, interior and all other things, top, Bimini, etc can be any color... It may be just me but I think the graphics black and solid look killer! Sorry I don't have a good graphics program, it's stupid paint...

Looks good, Just keep the "footprint" and you can have whatever colors you choose.

You're all over the board here now. Is there any sort of cost benefit to any of the colors that could help in the selection? I like every single color more than the original three. Did you mention that the stripes are damaged any way as they are now? End of the day, there is something to be said for keeping it original (presuming stripes in good shape) and just owning it. By the way do you have a thread with pics of the interior and below deck that we can oogle?

Jkust - minor damage to some of the colors.

I am liking the red, because it would be the easiest to do., but I see that Bear_Cuda has tried 'Basic Black' . . . very formal.

I have a bunch of pics in my "Looking for a 'new' boat" thread, which I cannot seem to pull up on the search right now.

So, I'm thinking that if I just change the pink to red, then the colors mesh OK, and the design pattern stays the same.

I do have some red 2-part urethane lying around somewhere . . . but I should probably buy a fresh kit.

Or it could be dark blue, red, whatever... I Just thought a solid color would be easier to match anything, rather than 3... Black is a very easy color to mix with others... The graphic wouldn't be difficult to make one solid color... Not sure what you mean formal? I thought it looked more like a 2012 Formula myself... Again, only my opinion... The boat rules no matter what...

Hi, I haven't checked your thread for a while. To answer your query, I may have seen that boat around. We have a very active population of Formulas on Winnipesaukee. I expect you will have a great riding machine there. And I bet it turns out to be great fun.
I just went through the colors again and I like the black & red or black & grey colors the best.
I wish you the best in whatever you choose.

Re: Which Color Scheme Do You Like ??? - Another Possibility . . .

Well, I flew out to Seattle this morning for a conference this week. During the trip, I touched up a few interior pictures, replacing the pink with red.

Here are a few pics for comparison. Changing the pink to red seems to make the color scheme 'bold' rather than 'pastel. So, that is why I am leaning towards the red.

Here is the red . . .

So, I am liking the red for both the exterior and interior effects.

keep that slush fund for canvas, interior looks OK with the red, bimini is just not doing it for me. I'd leave it alone. (paint colors)

I'm sorry but the RED does not really work at all. I think you better show those mockups to some well dressed women
before you go and jump the gun!!!! I'm no fashion or color expert but I have been in marketing for 15years and I will tell you the God's Honest Truth that those three colors are NOT meant to go together. Show me ANYTHING on this planet that was designed with Teal, Red and Purple... you know... something an experienced designer put out there... bicycle? skateboard? race car? bill-board? motorcycle, t-shirt, dress, ANYTHING!!!!! You won't find it and with good reason...

Stick with the Pink. It looks great!

Well, now that the Marketing department is involved, we might have to get the color wheel out and take a closer look. I happen to have one . . .

Here is a color wheel with the original (i.e. current) colors plotted on it.

ColorWheel_F330Orig.jpg

It turns out that this color combination is known as an "analogous' or 'analogic' scheme, since all colors are from the same side of the wheel. A 'triadic' 'split-complementary' might be better schemes, but that is the way the colors are - analogic.

It seems that there is not good balance between the purple and pink versus the purple and teal.

Below is the same color wheel with the proposed Red color . . . it seems to give greater color separation between the purple and the red, which is probably an improvement over the original.

ColorWheel_F330Red.jpg

This change would be fairly easy, so that is a big factor as well.

A more perfectly balanced scheme would be to take the 'Pink' all the way to 'Orange', but I'm not sure I want to take things that far . . .

Yeah....I would make the argument that teal and purple work, but the red OR the pink ruin it. I agree that moving closer to orange might be better, but now I'm thinking maybe just take the red/pink out? I think white or black would be good now. Teal, Purple and black would look pretty sweet. Think San Jose Sharks...

I like the teal. Second would be purple and then pink. That looks like an awesome boat!

Thank you for your thoughts and kind words. I'm not sure what I will try or when I will do it at this point. Now that I look at the color wheel, it almost seems like I should change 2 of the colors to get a balanced mix. Of course, based on the color wheel, the original scheme was not great to begin with . . .

Just go with the black, charcoal, dark grey or whatever. Get rid of all three orig colors. This will look OK with your teal canvas and someday down the road you can take care of the interior.

Re: Which Color Scheme Do You Like ???

I did look at a fair number of boats that had the gray/black color scheme, and I did not like them very well. So, I was happy to get a boat that had some color to it. It is a matter of dealing with the pink.

Since the Internet is a wonderful place to find things, I have come across some 'color scheme generators' over the past few days. Here is a color palette that I generated on one such app.

colorgeneration1.png

This is a 6-color palette that contains the original colors as well as some adjacent colors. So, the boat's original color scheme is using the 1st, 4th and 5th colors in the set (Teal, Purple, Pink). The 'pink' and 'purple' are right next to each other, whereas the teal is further apart.

So, hopefully it may work out that a change of the pink to red would create better color separation in the overall scheme. The new scheme would be using the 1st, 4th and 6th colors in the palette (Teal, Purple, Red).

Time will tell. . . and my apologies if I am being too scientific.

Re: Which Color Scheme Do You Like ???

I think that I am having too much fun with my graphics software. I have tried a ba-zillion color combinations, using the color wheel as a guide, etc

I made a close-up picture of the stern pattern of my boat and have done quite a few variations of the existing colors, plus some color changes. They are posted on my web site in case you are interested. (link below)

http://home.comcast.net/~tpenfield/Web_Page/My_Power_Boat/F-330-Color-Scheme.html

The easiest change would be to stay within the existing color set, and just change the order in which they are 'layered'. Some of the other color combinations are interesting as well, but would require color changes to the interior and perhaps the canvas to match. So the web page has about 10 variations using a three color set.
