Re: Which to buy ? The Suziki 2007 140 four stroke vrs e-tec 150
$2000.00 more is surely significant. I doubt that it will cost the difference in valve adjustments and oil bathed chain. Besides, you need to use a special Evinrude two stroke oil in their engines which they aren't giving away, so it's probably a wash either way.
Weight-wise they are within a few pounds of each other, because the Evinrude 150 is the same block as their 175 and 200.
Speed and power-wise, Evinrude's 10 horses isn't much more but two strokes are generally faster and Evinrude's bigger engine (Evinrude's 2589 cu in. vs Suzuki's 2044 cu in.) should give you much more grunt too.
Warranty-wise Evinrude's 7 year vs. Suzuki's 3 year. Now this is certainly worth some money here.
Finally, it's whether the Evinrude will outlast the Suzuki and give you less trouble in the long haul...especially in salt use. Since there are no long term comparisons available as both are relatively new, who knows? Theoretically, Evinrude's less moving parts should be better.
So in the end, the choice is still up to you. If you are buying for the longer haul, the Evinrude could be the better choice. Otherwise, it'll be difficult to recoop the difference.
