Jeez!!

All this anti-Toyota stuff is getting deep.

My son-in-law's Tundra is rated for 7,000 pounds and tows his 3,000#+ package like it isn't there. Heinz asked about towing and transportation, not hauling plywood.

As for 100% foreign owned. Bull. I am an owner of Toyota, just like thousands of other Americans. Corporate Management is in Japan, yes, but they answer to the stockholders.

Unionization is determined by the employees who would be members, by vote. Closed shop is a feature of unions in some states, others have a right to work law which forbids a closed shop.

If you want a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc. They are good trucks, particularly the Ford. Buy one.

Let's leave the urban legends to the naive.

Hey JB,

I'm not anti-Toyota, I think they have a great product, its just that they are decieving the buying public by falsly claiming to be building a full-sized pick-up when in fact it is actually a mid-sized pick-up.

These standards were established 40 years ago when the manufactures sat down to standardize pick-ups, before Toyota was in this market, and Toyota has decided to rewrite the standards to meet their needs when they decided to build the Tundra.

Other than that, I have a couple of freinds who have Toyota's and they love them.

My only complaint is why support Japans Nation Gross Product numbers?

Americans need to support the United States Nation Gross Product numbers, we build the same quality vehicles here.

How many 1970's Toyota's or Honda's or Nissan's (or Datsun's) or BMW's do you see on the road today?

Hey Snapperbait:

In the past I would have agreed with you, but have you have to drive on of those new Duramax's with the Alison Tranny. The best I have ever had the pleasure to drive.

Storm,

Try the new Powerstroke 6.0 with the five speed Torqueshift trans. You'll like that even more.

JB, Not to be direspectful, but.

Very few states have "right to work laws", Arizona being one of those that do. Maybe some plants can be moved from Michigan, New Jersey, Georgia, Kanasas, Missouri, etc. ;)

No urban legends being portrayed here. Actually, the US is not the largest market for Toyota. Worldwide, the USA is a smallish percentage of their market.

Hey, I'm not a Toyata basher. I used to be a Service Manager in a Toyota dealership. They have their issues too.

The fact is that consumers have a different mindset going into the ownership experience of a foreign vehicle, no matter what country of origin. The vast majority of foreign vehicle owners are willing to METICULOUSLY maintain that product. The same rule does not apply to what is perceived to be a domestic nameplate.

Been there, know that!!

I'm with JB on this one - the best truck is the one you like. Aside from personal preference there is not alot of difference between today's new trucks. As far as the imports - I believe the direct and trickle down economic impact of an assembly plant outweighs the profits going to the parent company. I live in Alabama and the Mercedes plant has had a tremendous benefit to the local economy. In today's global environment very few things are black and white - take a look at the largest shareholders of Ford and GM and you will find Taunus Corporation - the holding company subsidiary of German financial services Deutsche Bank. Heck - my last Ford truck came from Mexico. When I purchase a new truck I look for the best fit for my needs - don't really care who makes it as long as they do a good job. Personally - based on my experience - I can't wait for that new full sized Nissan.

Okay djohns19 I will give it shot. I am going down to the local Ford dealer for a test drive. Maybe if I offer to take him skiing he will let me pull my boat to the lake with his truck. Of course he will have to bring lunch.

since everyone got off the original topic, i'll follow suit- my 2002 toyota tacoma double cab with trd package pulls my 4000# rig just fine. it was also a lot of fun during this past winter snow storms. i just wish i had a camera when i pulled an f250 out of a bank. poor guy almost refused my offer for help. kept looking around for the video camera...

Test drive a 2003 Dodge 1500 Hemi Quad. Towing capacity is #8,600 properly equipped. Roomy, nice ride, 7/70 warranty standard. Hemi very strong, only shortcoming is 11 mpg city...
