Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

I come because I really enjoy about 10% of the posts in THIS subsection. Almost Pavlovian, if you ask me. My wife has commented on me shaking my head, nodding, or talking to the computer screen at times... all of this is troubling to me.

All in all, I really don't have much to offer. I've made several purchases from Iboats. I do enjoy boating, as long as there's several strands of monofilament draped over the side... or in the fall, the floor of the boat riddled with empty 12 guage casings and the spilled blood of several species of waterfowl. I just trade in my boat at the first sign of trouble. I'm not a mechanic, so I leave that stuff to the pros. I've never become emotionally attached to any material thing... it's too easy to just buy another one - less disappionting too.

I guess to sum it up in a sentence(something I've never been good at :D ) I've met some good friends on here. That's why I come.

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

I come here to give LubeDude an even harder time. :D

No, just kidding, but heres an example, look at the 2 of us.

We definitly got started on the wrong foot and disagreed, but on the whole, it appears we have been able to rectify the shakey start and are now able to speak to one another and bust each others chops all the time.

And have fun while visiting this site.

Actually, it all started with a few questions about an overheating problem on my outboard, but that lead to me finding "NTDWB", and then everything changed, and I found the comradory(sp) of alot of people from all over the world.

Ask for advise, you'll get it here!

I wouldn't trade the freinds I've made on this site.

People like SB_N, LadyFish, mellowyellow, aspeck, and of coarse Carphunter (hey Carpy, hows it going?) and all the others that make this site a very pleasurable experience, for me at least.

This site might have some problems, but its still the best site that I visit.

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

I come here because I share the love to fish, boat and anything else in the water. I can find help to all kinds of problems, buy anything imaginable for my favorite hobby, and learn from the experts. Even though I don't aspire to fix my own motor it sure is nice to have the resources available when even the slightest thing breaks.

I first started reading mainly the fishing thread to become a better fisherwoman by learning some new tips and techniques. I found it interesting the different types of fishing by region. Noodling? what an education that was. Muskie's never heard of them.

I began reading NTWB section and thought hmmmmm, these guys seem pretty harmless, maybe I'll start posting.

The rest is history. I've met some really nice folks who don't seem to mind me being here even if I am a woman. :)

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

I first came here to get some advice about an outboard engine selection. I got abundant advice.

I discovered that I could help other boaters, and that I enjoyed the company and the environment.

I have probably learned as much as I ever knew before about the practical, everyday care and feeding of boats and outboards. That gives me even more to share with others.

When I was invited to help keep things civil and to protect the business interests and values of our hosts as well as helping other boaters (and continuing to learn)I was permanently hooked.

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

after buying an ebay projy boat this past spring I searched google lookin for boat sites--thats how I found iboats-
I was and am especially interested in the boat projy forum-(jasonj skanky projy caused me to buy another ebay boat, two projects going now--on hold till warm weather comes again-wawawawa)

Anyhooo-enjoyed the NTDWB forum as well. Spend most time here now as the boat projys on hold.

Great buncha folks here.

BTW, was once a site called ALLOUTDOORS--same premice as iboats--sold stuff online, discussion boards--etc. They eventually went away after being purchased by investors who were not satisfied by cost/earnings ratio. Buncha regulars started their own discussion board-kept costs low--still around (I mod there part time)
JAO--the receint events on iboats boards took place at AO shortly before AO shut the site down. Am NOT implying there is trouble in paradise--just an observation (JAO)

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

Well, I first stumbled on this site when I was looking for some repair advise on the 'ol Johnson. I was amazed at how many people responded to help me, and how nice everyone was.

I keep coming back because, I feel as though I have made a few friends here, and I am genuinely interested at what they have to say.

SBN - Keeps me laughing daily. SBN will always have your back also. Still laughing at the Hepa -suit pics. :D

Ladyfish - Also keeps me laughing, and I love how she puts us guys in our place when we need it, (Which is often).

Aspeck - Love discussing aliens and deer with him, maybe not in that order. ;)

Castaway - Half the time I don't know what the heck he's talking about, but at least he keeps the Mods busy. :p

NOSLEEP - Jealous of him because of all them neat critters he gets to hunt and eat up there in Canada.

Magster - Been a joy seeing the pictures of his boy growing up, got two of my own, so I know what it means to him.

Mellow - I was gettin all worked up on one post, and Mellow says "Just because we don't agree, doesn't mean we can't wet a line together", that kinda stuck with me. One of them things you don't forget.

Kenny - My bud, and the record holder for most responses to a post...........Twice!!! Always liked the way he just says it like it is.

Flahthead - Cause he's got a Harley!!! :D
And he likes to hunt.

Ryan T - The little brother I never had. Who could forget the powerwasher, and the hicci incident. :D :D :D

I know I am forgetting a lot of folks, but I have to get back to work.

oh..........and JB,.......... Hmmmmmm, what can I say, I believe you were one of the first ones to reply to my first post, welcoming me to this site. We don't always see eye to eye, but thats ok. You do a great job helping with the Moderating of this site. I do miss some of the posts I used to read from you.

So.........as you can see from this post, I feel like I am part of a great family here at Iboats, and you guys are my brothers and sisters.

And Kenny, everything is going great, thanks for asking. I'm still around each day, just not posting as much.

I think thats enough for now, i'm wearing out my typing finger. :p

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

can somebody please correctly spell comradary for
me and Kenny? LOL just don't look right!
and gonfishin... wherever 2 or more of us are gathered
together to fish and tell stories, it IS a get-
together :D in the meantime I am sure glad we
got this site to meet everyday.
after all, how many folks have pics of your
outhouse and know it's name???
occasionally something stirs the water in the
duck pond all up and it gets murky... but it will
eventually settle to the bottom and be nice and
clear agian.

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

Just like some of you I also started out here looking for information about fishing and boating. I found the Stupid Human Tricks section and just laughed so hard at some of them. Then I found the NTDWB section and laughed even harder and even learned a few things. Most of all I have found support here. You all are like an extended family to me and a personal therapist. I get more support here than I do from my family, excluding my husband. He's awesome. Anyway, I'm very thankful for all of you even if I take things wrong sometimes.( Group hug?) I'm a little sensitive at times. That's me. But I'm learning so much and growing so much as a person.
So, rock on iboats! I hope you're around for years to come. I am hooked! :D
Bassy

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

One thing I would like to see more of is cool places to go to, boat, eat, fish, spend the night. I like to cruise and I have done Lake Michigan and Wisconsin lakes and rivers in every way, (car, boat)

Key anchorages, fun bars and restaurants, sights, recommended 2-3-4 or 7 day vacation suggestions. GPS coordinates things of that nature.

There is lots of geography on the site and even an international flavor.

My one and only suggestion, .............eh, today

KKC, good ole Catholic School. You got beat on the fingers with a ruler or your braids pulled by the nuns if you mispelled something.

I was always a good speller. ;)

Re: Why do you come to this forum and web site?

I've been reading the iboats forum for approx 18 months, when i needed help last august, i decided to join this forum, the wealth knowledge which i have gained here about boats and motors "all absolutely free" i might add, is something that i'll have for the rest of my life, and i gladly share that knowledge with those who i feel that i can help.As for the personalities on this forum, some are obviously more colorful than others.Reality TV sure loses it's spectrum against this vibrant and ever so passionate daily discourse. If one's post happens to get poofed, then obviously the content would be not in accordance with your agreement upon joining this forum.I think not, that the moderators actions are not within the scope and latitude allowed by the host.To put it simply ,iboats is a great forum with lot's of wonderful people.

So LadyFish,

Did you have "Sister Mary Elephant" for your teacher?

Remember:

"Class come to order please...

Class come to order please...

Class come to...

SHHUUUT UUUUP!

Now, thats better class."

I'm sorry, every time some tells me they went to Catholic School, that image always pops in my head.

Anyway, glad you did not need that dictionary.

As for myself, it's right here next to my computer.

Only problem lately, has been that I never open it anymore!

Must say my outhouse is different than most. Wonder if I am only one to put a sign on it "The ShoaFin Retreat". Thanks My for reminding me that I need to redo the purple polka dots on outie next year...
