Hi Bruce
I did read the posts...
I'm probably not going to get rid of the single point just yet. The boat only has 100hrs on it and all fresh water. I'm pretty sure at the moment, most of the water is draining, if not all.
As for the risers and manifolds in fresh water. They still rust. My last boat was exclusively fresh water for 20years and the risers were changed on condition the first time and the second time because they had went beyond and actually were hyd locking the engine from stbd bank. I was lucky with that one ! Over this 20 year period I simply drained the block etc the traditional way and left them empty...I figure the anti freeze way is good for me. They certainly last longer in fresh water, but would still be considered a consumable in my book, given the above.
Perhaps in a few years I shall have less trust in the single point drain and remove. Hopefully I won't eat my words inbetween times 😖

I have records going back to 2002 on my engine and the risers/manifolds never replaced. I doubt they were before then either. Mine is fresh water. It gets drained and sits over winter. Most of the AF you put in the exhaust side will just run out anyway.

Thanks for the bump, I wouldn't have been able to read this informative thread otherwise.

I drain my engine using the five blue plugs (in my case), then muff it with pink stuff that contains corrosion inhibitors; don't use the cheap alcohol based pink stuff. When I poke my drain holes I get absolutely no rust or crud. Been doing this for fifteen years on this boat--no problems.
