Re: WINTERIZING-NEED HELP
All of the professionals will like this one. I do not winterize anything. A couple of reasons. First, I owned a 25 wellcraft nova w/2-302 fords. I followed the instructions and fogged. Have you ever tried to get down in the bilge and work between two V-8's, it's not pretty. Second, I have found, that if anything sits very long, it's not good. So, what I have been doing for the last 30 years is not winterizing anything. I use fuel stabilizer in my big boat, I top off the tank after stripper season and put in the correct amount. For my small outboards, lawnmowers, weedeaters, and especially my Generator, I keep only a gallon of gas/oil mix for the weedeater and outboard, and a gallon for the Generator and my Yamaha 4stroke. Every two weeks (or as close to that as possible), I will take time to start and run everything I have (even my old vette). I run them until they are at operating temp and thermostats open. I move every part on them, up and down, back and forth. Nothing ever sits idle for months at a time. I have never had a problem since I started doing this. When I go to start anyone of them, I am pretty confident they will run. It helps the batterys as well. Try it.
