Re: with all the gun talk

I'm looking at this one as a possible purchase after the new year.

http://www.google.com/products/cata...og_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CEIQ8wIwAA#

I will be applying for my carry permit next year. I currently have a .22 rifle, .357 Magnum revolver so I want something I can easily carry and most will not know I am.

The local gun store just up the road from my home cannot keep them in stock. A big plus for me, they are made in the good ole USA. American made.

I miss the good ole days when you could pick a ruger 10/22 up for $69.00 that was the first gun I ever received and I still have it to this day, makes for a great grouse gun(I hate picking out shotgun pellets!)

HA! ME TOO still have mine and it was handed down to me by my grand father!!

Re: with all the gun talk

I've got a couple of 1911. I have a Springfield Loaded that is a 100% reliable tack driver. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a LNIB Colt. It was a bit over 20 years old. The owner bought it new, shot it a few times, cleaned it, and boxed it up.....While a 1911 is great, I'm more of a revolver guy and Colt is my brand. I've got 1 or 12.:D

it was a choice between the Kimber or a Springfield mil-spec. I love my Springfield XD40, .in the end I didn't like the trigger on the mil-spec so went Kimber

I like wheel guns to. have a 38 with a 2 inch barrel and a 357 with a 4. still thinking about a 44 with a 6 in next year. I do have a black powder 44. that's fun

NICE :)

Did you check out CZ pistols at all ???
Yes they're Czeck, but nice.

looked at as to say I held one but really this choice was made long ago, it would either be Kimber or Springfield. I did consider colt.

Nice Kimber..They make a great gun..

I have my fathers WW2 issue Remington Rand 1911 45.
He bought it as surplus from a pickle barrel in a hardware store for $25.00 in the 50's....

I have 22's, 32's, 38's, 357's, a 45 and a 44 mag..of em all...

I love the 45 ACP....I need to put my pennies away for a HK SOCOM ;)

Re: with all the gun talk

very nice piece. ok why can't you get Kimber in MA?

As Bob_VT stated, MA has its on ideas on hand gun laws, namely safety features that must be built into the hand gun.

The one that sticks out in my mind is anything built after 1998 must have a way to detect if a round is presently chambered.
In the case of my 1911, there is a small half moon cut into the back of the bolt, so you can see the brass shell in the chamber. Smith & Wesson is based in Springfield MA, so "When in Rome".

Kimber chose not to comply with MA gun laws, and I don't blame them. Why make tens of thousands of dollars in design changes to comply to one states standards? Especially a state in which private gun ownership has drastically dropped.

I won't go into why it's dropped, because that conversation would become political as fast as our 1911's can shoot. ;)

thanks for the explanation. guess that explains why I keep seeing the loaded chamber indicator. was wondering where that idea came from. what happened to always assume right? very interesting thanks again.

Re: with all the gun talk

I will say that Vermont has some of the best gun regulations. This is an open carry state if you desire to do so but, it makes people nervous to see it. Concealed carry is okay too.

The only strange regulation they have is no suppressors at all. It is a Fish and Game thing.

Most of the PD's are migrating to the 45 acp and now leaving the 40 S&W. There was a somewhat recent shooting encounter and the 40 did not live up to the expected results in the terms of stopping power.

The Springfield Loaded models have a better trigger, among a few other custom gun type items over the Mil-Specs. They are a lot of 1911 for the bucks. I bought my Black Stainless model for $740 a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I've got a .44 on my want list. I'm holding out for a polished stainless Colt Anaconda. They are far and few between, especially since Colt has been outta the DA revolver business for about a decade. I foolishly let one pass me by this summer because I didn't want to drive a couple of hours to get it.....It would have looked good beside my polished King Cobras.:D

What is a suppressor? Muzzle brake or silencer? I like my 40 S&W but only plink with it. Wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of any of them though.

Like the Kimber by the way

My .40 is my favorite gun, that is my everyday carry weapon, with the right rounds and practice they are a very good gun, the Border patrol as well as most agencies in my area have started carrying the .40, but as with any gun, they can fail to do what you expect, but there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. I have a friend who is a SWAT officer who carries a .45 and he still has had unexpected results when it comes to stopping the bad guys.

Yeah almost got a S&W 44 earlier this year. local gun shop offered it to me but bad timing. guy had come in needing money and sold it cheap. they offered it to me for 600 nickel plated 6 in barrel with the scope. beautiful gun. I had just picked up a 357 and a couple other things though so gun fund was low.
